Sudha Murthy’s “Wise & Otherwise” is dedicated to all the shirtless people of India. The book is a compilation of 51 stories which are real life experiences of Mrs. Murthy that she gathered when she was travelling across the country.
Every story of the book is of 3 to 4 pages and is inspired from real life incidents which she encountered during her travels.The author has travelled a lot so these stories are not restricted to one geographical region although most of them are from rural areas of India. Many stories in the book leave a deep impact on you.
One of the stories is about a man leaving his father in an old age home. The stories in the book reflect the state of the society. In one of the stories, there is a discussion between two marriage brokers regarding the impact of the growth of IT sector on their business. There is a story of a beggar who moves to an area devastated by earthquake to take advantage of the rehabilitation being provided there.
Through the words of the wife of Indian IT czar N.R. Narayana Murthy, we get to see the real picture of India.
